I’ve got a 2016 BMW 340i with the ZF 8 speed transmission and lately I’ve noticed that on the first few shifts of the morning, especially the 2-3 upshift, there’s a slight hesitation or delayed engagement before it slots into gear. Once the car warms up after maybe five minutes, it shifts perfectly, smooth and fast. No clunks, no slipping, no check engine light. I’ve read that these transmissions are very sensitive to fluid condition and fluid level, and that the pan/filter needs to be changed every 80k km or so. I’m at 100k km and I doubt it’s ever been done. I’ve been looking into leading transmission repair specialists that can do a proper drain and fill with the correct ZF fluid and a new pan, not just a flush machine that could do more harm than good. Has anyone here had cold shift hesitation cured by a transmission service? Or is this an early sign of something more serious like a mechatronics issue? Hoping I caught it early enough. Any advice appreciated.
